“Admirable friendship is the whole of the holy life.” – the Buddha
Our main focus this day will be the Buddha’s teachings on friendship, which he described as central to spiritual freedom. As a friend to all beings, the Buddha freely offered his teachings to everyone willing to listen, so that they, too, could experience the joy of awakening.
Commemorating the life and teachings of the Buddha is particularly appropriate this day, the Wesak full moon. According to tradition, the Wesak moon was when the Buddha was born, attained awakening, and experienced final release.
Using meditation, discussion, and chanting, we will celebrate and cultivate the wisdom and compassion the Buddha taught.
